1. The short answer
On September 29, 2026 Meta launched Muse for Small Business with connectors for Intuit QuickBooks and Stripe. Connect them and ask Muse to review the month in plain words: revenue, expenses, and anything unusual. One of Meta's own example prompts for owners is exactly this, a monthly financial review that flags expenses that look off. Muse analyzes, you decide. Nothing moves without your approval. The business connectors are available in the US and Canada right now.
Most owners do not avoid their books because they are lazy. They avoid them because the books speak accountant and they speak plain words. This guide turns the monthly review into a conversation: what came in, what went out, what looks off, and what to ask next. The rest covers the setup, the questions worth asking every month, and where to stay careful.

2. What you need
- Muse access. You need an account with access first.
- QuickBooks or Stripe, ideally both. QuickBooks for the books, Stripe for payment level detail. Together they give the full picture.
- A few months of reasonably clean books. Muse reads what is there. Miscategorized months give mushy answers, but you do not need perfection to start.
- Approval settings on ask me. Analysis is free to read. Anything that moves money waits for you.
3. The method, step by step
The frustrations first, because every one of them is normal. You do not look at the books until tax time, and then it is panic and a pile of receipts. Money leaks silently: a subscription you forgot, a tool you pay for twice, a free trial that started billing months ago. You have revenue but no idea which products or customers actually make you money. The cruelest one: a month that looked profitable on paper while you struggled to cover a bill, because profit and cash are not the same thing. Your books are messy and you feel embarrassed to let anything, even software, look at them. And the big one: handing an AI access to your money feels reckless.
This method is built for exactly that reader. It starts read only, it speaks plain words, and it never moves a dollar without your explicit approval.
- Connect QuickBooks and Stripe. In Muse's connectors, link both. Muse can now see revenue, expenses, and payouts in one place. Keep approvals on ask me. This is the answer to the fear: Muse can read everything and move nothing.
- Ask for the monthly review. Say: review last month. Tell me what came in, what went out, and flag anything unusual. Plain words work. Do not worry about the messy months. Start with the most recent one and let Muse tell you where the mess actually hurts.
- Chase the flags. When Muse flags something, dig in: why did ad spend jump in week three, what is this duplicate charge, which subscription is this. It can trace a number across your connected tools, from a Stripe charge back to the QuickBooks category. Every flag you chase is a leak you either fix or rule out.
- Ask the four questions. Which products or customers actually drive profit. Are there duplicate subscriptions or forgotten tools still billing me. What does cash flow look like for the next sixty days. How does this month compare to last month and the same month last year. Ask them in your own words. Muse pulls the numbers and answers in sentences, not spreadsheets.
- Make it recurring. Tell Muse: on the first of each month, brief me on last month's money. It keeps working after you close the app and returns when the brief is ready. The review stops depending on your willpower.
- You sign off on moves. Read the analysis freely. Any payment, refund, or subscription change needs your explicit approval first. Analysis is the product here. Action stays yours.

You are my finance reviewer. Here is how we work. Connectors to use: connect my QuickBooks account and my Stripe account, so you can see the books and the payment level detail together. My business: [what I sell and how I make money, e.g. monthly retainers plus one off projects] Rules: you analyze and explain in plain words. You never move money, issue refunds, cancel subscriptions, or change anything in QuickBooks or Stripe without my explicit approval. If you are unsure about a number, say so and tell me where to check it. Do this in order. 1. Review last month. Tell me what came in, what went out, and what is left, with no jargon. 2. Flag anything unusual: duplicate charges, subscriptions I may have forgotten, any expense that jumped versus the month before. 3. Tell me which products, services, or customers drove the most profit, as far as the data lets you see. 4. Give me a simple cash flow read for the next 60 days: what is expected in, what is committed out, and any tight weeks. 5. End with the 3 questions I should be asking about my money this month.
4. Questions worth asking every month
Which products or customers actually drive profit. Revenue lies. A product can sell well and still lose money once you count ads, shipping, and support time. Ask Muse to rank profit, not just sales. You will often find a quiet product or a loyal customer type carrying the business while a loud one drains it.
Are there duplicate subscriptions or forgotten tools still billing me. This is the easiest money you will ever find. Ask Muse to list every recurring charge and flag anything that looks duplicated or unused. Owners routinely find tools they stopped opening months ago still billing every month.
What does cash flow look like for the next sixty days. Profit is what you earned. Cash is what you can spend on Friday. Ask Muse what is expected in, what is committed out, and which weeks look tight. A tight week you see coming is a problem you can plan around. One you do not see coming is a crisis.
How does this month compare to last month and the same month last year. A single month means little alone. Ask for the comparison and ask why. A dip against last year might be a seasonal pattern you forgot, or the start of a real slide. The numbers raise the question. You and Muse work out the answer.
5. What to watch for
The connectors are days old, so verify any surprising number against QuickBooks itself before acting on it. If Muse says an expense doubled, open the books and look before you cancel anything. Trust builds over a few verified months.
Keep tax filings and payroll with you or your accountant. Muse is a reviewer, not a filer. It can prepare the summary your accountant needs and flag what looks off, but the filing stays human.
Do not let messy books stop you from starting. Muse will show you exactly where the mess costs you clarity, which is more motivating than any lecture. Clean as you go, starting with the current month. Also note the availability: the business connectors are US and Canada only for now. If you are anywhere else, join the waitlist and we will send you a code on launch day.

Frequently asked questions
- Can Muse do my taxes?
- No. It reviews your books and flags things. Filings stay with you or your accountant.
- Will it move money on its own?
- No. Meta says nothing is published, sent, or spent without your approval. Analysis is free to read; moves need your tap.
- How far back can it look?
- As far back as your connected QuickBooks and Stripe history goes.
- Which should I connect, QuickBooks or Stripe?
- Both if you have them. QuickBooks shows the books, Stripe shows payment level detail. Together they give the full picture.
- My books are a mess. Will Muse still help?
- Yes. It reads what is there and tells you where the mess actually hurts your clarity, which makes cleanup feel worth doing. Start with the current month and clean backward only as far as the questions you care about need.
- Can Muse cancel a subscription it finds?
- No. It flags the subscription and shows you the charges. You cancel it yourself. Nothing is ever spent, moved, or changed without your explicit approval.
- How do I know a flagged expense is really wrong?
- Ask Muse to show its work: which charges, on which dates, in which category. Then verify against QuickBooks or Stripe directly before you act. A flag is a lead, not a verdict.
- Is my financial data safe with Muse?
- Muse reads through connectors you control, and you can disconnect them at any time. Keep tax filings and payroll with you or your accountant regardless. Muse is a reviewer, not a custodian.
- I am outside the US and Canada. What now?
- Muse has not launched in your country yet. Join the waitlist and we will send you a fresh code on launch day.
